Saturday’s earlier start time at the 2022 Immunolin F18 World Championship gave competitors a four-race day in various winds. The top 5 in the provisional standings are in a tight fight to win the title tomorrow, Sunday, October 16, the last day of racing. You’ll want to follow the live tracking and scoring race by race. The first warning time is at 1000 hours on Sunday.
The Friday evening reception for the 2022 Immunolin F18 World Championship hosted by the Clearwater Beach Yacht Club cleared out early, which was a sign of a good thing. After two days of waiting for wind, regatta participants were happily tired from 3 action-filled races in winds that increased during the day.
There were three different first-place finishers, a reflection of the high quality of racing in the 60+ boat fleet. The USA team of Taylor Reiss and Walter Lauridsen took race one in the lightest breeze of the day.
USA’s Ravi Parent, the winner of the recent F18 European Championship, and Severin Gramm took race 2. Argentina’s Cruz Gonzalez Smith and Mariano Heuser won the day’s last race. Parent and Gramm sit in first tonight with 9 points, while the Greek team of Iordanis Paschalidis and Konstantinos Trigkonis are a close second with 12 points. . There are three teams tied for third with 16 points, Argentinas’ Cruz Gonzalez Smith and Mariano Heuser, Australia’s Gavin Colby and Kai Colman, and Spain’s Toni Rivas Mas and Jordi Sanchez Perez.
It’s an early day tomorrow for Day 4, with the first warning signal for 10 AM ET.
The wind was a no-show again on Day 2 of the 2022 Immunolin F18 World Championship in Clearwater Beach, Florida. The postponement presented competitors with the opportunity to take advantage of “America’s Best Beaches” for volleyball, boat tuning, or just relaxing on a beach chair. Race officials encouraged competitors to be prepared for a potential four race-day on Friday because the forecast is promising with a NNE breeze that will slowly shift left as the land heats up.
